HaiZi Project: Study 2
Study 2: Qualitative study on the intervention needs for unintentional injury prevention and control among children aged 3-12 years in Guizhou
Research findings:
◎ Children and their caregivers obtain information on prevention and control mainly through the internet and awareness in schools.
◎ Children expect families and schools to have measures to protect their safety.
◎ Expectations of caregivers of children: Able to take measures to eliminate dangerous environments in a timely manner; increase in vigilance and sense of responsibility; strengthen children's safety education.
◎ Stakeholder expectations: Emphasize the importance of safety in the physical environment and drowning prevention. In addition to strengthening children's safety education, it is also necessary to improve basic safety facilities, such as adding guardrails and warning signs. In addition, staff of civil society organizations and schools also need training in children safety, as well as resource support to enable them to prevent child unintentional injuries.
