HaiZi Project: Study 3
Study 3: Qualitative study on the capabilities and difficulties of local social organizations in Guizhou in preventing and controlling unintentional injuries to children
Research findings:
◎ The civil society organizations have some experiences in a variety of prevention and control measures, including safety reminders, publicity, event organization, patrols, cooperation and physical protection, and establishing prevention and control network with the government and schools.
◎ The challenges they face are resource and funding constraints, which affect the continuity and effectiveness of their services.
◎ The training for civil society organizations is insufficient in frequency and a gap between theory and practice, especially in first aid knowledge and counselling.
◎ In areas with ethnic minorities, language and cultural barriers pose additional challenges for communication and health education.
