HaiZi Project: Study 4
Study 4:Feasibility study on “Caregiver-and-Child Home Safety Support" through civil society organizations in the prevention of child unintentional injuries in rural areas
Research findings:
Among the 12 families that participated in the study, 8 children (4 boys, 4 girls) and 12 caregivers were engaged. Most of the children (6/8) and all caregivers (12/12) participated actively in the home visits. All social workers (15/15) completed the home visits as planned. Most caregivers (9/12 to 11/12) were satisfied with the home visit process and regarded the contents as locally appropriate. They were also satisfied with the ways the first aids methods were demonstrated and the questions and answers section. All caregivers (12/12) gave high praise to the home safety and first aid atlas. Although there was only one family with a child with disabilities in this study, the child and caregiver were able to participate in these intervention activities effectively. The social workers were generally satisfied with all the tools and they provided helpful suggestions for improvement.
