When the Spring Festival comes, each household will paste Spring Festival couplets on the door. The street will be busy and lively with lanterns and decorations. The Spring Festival in 2020 was quite different. Because of the sudden attack of COVID-19 outbreak, people all stayed at home rather than visit relatives and friends, and the street was quiet and empty. However, life still goes on. As the situation got better, people need to go back to work or study.

Wanqing, a Grade 9 student in Yangxian County, Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province, is a registered child of World Vision. She had always been concerned about how to take preventive measures after returning to school. From the teacher, she learnt that the school would provide one mask for each student every two days and take the students' temperature regularly. The campus would also be disinfected every day. But Wanqing was still a bit worried as a school is a crowed place.

Surprisingly, on the first day of school, she received a Family Pack from World Vision including an electronic thermometer, hand sanitizer, soap, towel, tissue and a health education booklet. She sighed, "This is the first time I've used an instant hand sanitizer and it's amazing. It is so convenient that I can clean and disinfect my hands without water. It also reduces the chance of the virus spreading when we line up to wash our hands at the sink."

The school requires to take students’ temperature in the morning, at noon and in the evening, Wanqing takes her own temperature with the electronic thermometer. She shares that it is very useful with a high measurement speed. It’s easy to read and safe to use.

Wanqing carefully reads the health education booklet and says, "Although there are introductions of COVID-19 on TV and the Internet, they are just some fragmentary knowledge. This book gives a more detailed and complete introduction of how to scientifically protect ourselves from the virus. I will share the knowledge with my family as well." Wanqing friendly gives the book to the teacher so that all the students can learn it in the class meeting.

For the epidemic situation, Wanqing has her own opinion, too. She said, "The pandemic is still spreading around the world. We can start with small things around us, learning prevention knowledge to protect our family, friends and ourselves, and contribute to the society with our small hands. Though these may be insignificant, as long as we stick together and make joint effort, we will overcome the virus in the end."

Upon the outbreak of COVID-19, World Vision provided 200 pieces of protective clothing, 13,000 masks, 35,000 Family Packs, 400 School Hygiene Boxes, 100 forehead thermometers, to help the community prevent epidemic efficiently and protect children from coronavirus infection.
