More love, safer childhood

13 years Cuilan is in 6th Grade student, who lives with her parents and grandmother. The family lives on the father’s income by doing migrant works every April to December and the mother’s farming work. Since their family expense is not much, their life is just fine.

Cuilan loves to go to school and she is doing well in study. Cuilan said, “I have many friends at school, and I am very happy." But for Cuilan and her friends, the way to school is not easy. It takes them at least one hour on the way. So they all board in school from Monday to Friday. Every Sunday afternoon, her mother walks her to school.

"Almost all parents in our village walk children to school. Because there is a pool by the side of our way to school, with no protection. The pool is a potential risk to us, especially rainy days. I often see some of my schoolmates play here, I feel worry that they may fall into the pool." Cuilan said.

Creating a safe community environment for children to live and play at is always one of the most important task of World Vision. After learning about the villagers' need, World Vision built a protecting wall around the pool. "Thanks to World Vision. Now we have this wall, children can no longer approach the pool. The safety here has been improved", Cuilan said with gratitude showing in her eyes.

Cuilan said she would like to go to a college and return back to be a teacher in her hometown, so as to help more people go out these mountains to see the outside world.
